NT Temperament feature jp

Although N and T are letters associated with personality type theory, these two preferences also align to an older theory, which describes four basic human Temperaments.

You may be familiar with Temperament theory from one of the following authors or models. David Keirsey calls this NT Temperament Rational. Don Lowry uses the color Green in the True Colors® model. Denise Hughes in Personality Dimensions® uses the term Inquiring Green, and Linda Berens names this temperament Theorist.

People who share this temperament tend to take an insightful and logical approach. NTs generally value using critical thinking to evaluate ideas.

NTs prefer to take in information as patterns rather than as discrete facts and observations. This preference is usually associated with individuals who like to work with theory or integrate ideas into a big picture.

Career themes:

• Value knowledge, logic, mastery, and competence

• Attracted to careers in technology, science, computing, medicine, or law

• Seek quality and challenge

• Enjoy visioning, innovating, and designing

• Like complexity and working with abstract ideas and models

• Understand information and make predictions based on logical analysis

• Self-critical and have high expectations

If you have NT preferences, are these themes true for you? If not, what themes do you see as more important?
