In my personality type based communication workshops I sometimes have participants complete this thought –“To communicate most effectively with me please…” This exercise helps participants express their communication style and preferences.
I can’t take credit for this exercise. It is modified from one created by Jean Kummerow.
Here is a photo of a response from an individual who has INTP preferences.
Communicating
People preferring INTP tend to seek conceptual communication that stimulates their thinking and challenges the traditional ways we think about the world. Often not fond of small talk, they prefer frank, open communications that are direct.
This individual, when communicating, is interested in finding out what you want from him. He wants issues to be addressed and dealt with openly, honestly, and directly.
Hinting around with an INTP about a personal matter will not likely lead to the result you are hoping for!
