In my personality type based communication workshops I sometimes have participants complete this thought -“To communicate most effectively with me, please…” This exercise helps participants express their personal communication style and preferences.
I can’t take credit for this exercise. It is modified from one created by Jean Kummerow.
Here is a photo of a response from an individual with ESFP preferences.
The clear, practical approach often used by ESFPs is highlighted in these straightforward points.
I like the tell me, show me, points – these let us see the importance of being active and direct when communicating with ESFPs.
The poster also helps us see that it is important to be tactful, gentle, and not too direct when offering corrective feedback.
