INTP: To communicate with me

INTP: To communicate with me

In my personality type based communication workshops I sometimes have participants complete this thought –“To communicate most effectively with me, please…” This exercise helps participants express their personal communication style and preferences.

I can’t take credit for this exercise. It is modified from one created by Jean Kummerow.

Here is a photo of a response from an individual with INTP preferences.

Here, a person with INTP preferences describes how they prefer communication to be fun and challenging. Notice how they like making “leaps” in conversation. This non-sequential approach tends to attract people who prefer to Extravert Intuition (Ne) including ENFPs, ENTPs, INTPs, and INFPs. However, it can be less enjoyable for others, especially those who prefer SJ, who would rather approach topics in a realistic, sequential manner.
