Illustrations of Type – ISTP

Illustrations of Type – ISTP

By Donna Dunning

In my MBTI® Certification workshops participants respond to the instruction – “Describe your type using words, phrases, or pictures.” I find these visual representations of type preferences help illustrate individual differences.

Here is a photo of a response from an individual with ISTP personality type preferences.

Practical creativity and a focus on learning from experience are typical strengths of someone who has ISTP preferences.

The dominant Introverted Thinking function (Ti) of an ISTP is often expressed as an interest in logically and independently analyzing situations and solving problems.

This problem-solving process is supported by data gathered from trying things out and observing relevant facts, using their auxiliary function of Extraverted Sensing (Se).

You may also enjoy looking at how other ISTP groups have completed this illustration of type exercise.

People who prefer ISTP can become impatient with small talk as shown by the “What’s your point dude?” (zoom in to read the speech bubbles) and the drawing showing that communication can be a problem.

If you are interested in seeing how people with different type preferences complete this exercise, check out the Illustrations of Type series.
